Peanut-knife

Who is the culprit? Who has left the dirty knife on the sink worktop..?

This is the second time I find a knife with a thick layer of peanutbutter between the office dishes.

[ there's almost enough to spread a whole sandwich... ]

It's very hard to clean this properly, yuk!

As officially appointed lunch coordinator I must be very strict once in a while...

[ so remember: whipe your knife clean on your sandwich..! ]

Giger stapler

I took a good look at our office stapler today: I discovered I found the device very creepy..!

Scarry stuff, those staplers...

It reminded me of Giger's alien (the one used in the Alien movies). And when you need to re-fill the machine with new staples, the staple storage department slides out of the front of the machine.

[ just like that weird little mouth of one of those aliens... ]

I was wrong

I was going to make this photo to prove that when you want to take a picture of something beautiful and fragile, the object of your desire has disappeared before you have a chance to capture the image.

[ as you can see, I was wrong... ]

Scary stuff: taking a picture of a bubble in the office of an internet company...

Rain

I had to cycle a couple of times through the rain today. Luckily the rain was not meant for me.

[ so it doesn't really count... ]

It does get you wet though...

New mobile phone

I've got a new mobile telephone. It's a Nokia 6680, it's grey and has a lot of buttons.

[ present from my boss, for all those business related phone calls... ]

If you call me, I pick up this phone...

This new phone has lots more options than my old mobile. It has happend more than once that whilst retrieving a ringing phone from my pocket I accidentely pressed the red 'hang-up' button instead of the green 'pic-up' button...

[ but if you leave a message, I'll call you back as soon as possible... ]

Lists

I'm not the kind of person that makes lists when I go shopping. I ususally know what I've got at home, and decide what to eat when I'm walking around in the supermarket.

Well, deciding what to eat is something I can do in the supermarket (impuls shopping included), but my knowledge of my foodstocks isn't always that up-to-date.

Now double: a spare pot of peanutbutter...

[ I now have enough peanutbutter till february 2007... ]

Next to peanutbuuter, I also own two cans of Pringles (hot & spicy), two packets of Bastogne cookies and three bales of rice...

Handbag

My colleague (Victoria) has a new handbag. She normally places this bag on the red couch, next to the hatrack.

[ everytime I look at it, it cheers me up... ]

New bike

Walking is fun, but not always practical. Therefore I quickly bought myself a brand new second hand bike.

The same evening I bought the bike, I placed my old trusty bicycle bell on the bike.

[ I'm also thinking about putting on the old seat,it was more comfortable... ]

My new -nameless- bike...

All I have to do is come up with a new name for my 'steel mount'. If you have a suggestion, please leave a message...

Going for a walk (2)

The predicted heatwave in the Netherlands created some beautiful weather. I decided to fill my bag with two bottles of water and some packets of cookies (Oreo's). I didn't really have a plan where to go, so I first headed some direction, leaving town.

[ not in the direction of Haarlem, I've already been there... ]

After one and a half hour of walking, I encountered the following sign:

All possible destinations...

Mmm, Utrecht, that sounds like a nice ending point for my walk, let's go there.

Five and a half hour later I found myself in a train from Utrecht central station back to Amsterdam. When I was home again, I had walked about 45 kilometer (I also had to walk from Amsterdam station to my home).

[ I'll bet I will be sore tomorrow... ]

Broken bicycle (2)

Yesterday I recieved the bad news: Bruno is beyond repair.

The rear axle was so worn down that this part had to be replaced completely. The old age of the bike made it impossible to find suitable replacement parts (old fashioned technology). To make Bruno fit again, so many parts needed to be replaced that the costs would be higher than buying a good second hand bike...

[ we then decided not to fix Bruno anymore... ]

Since I'm very attached to my Bruno, I asked for some parts to be saved. This morning I collected them. All that is left now is my lock and chain, my seat and the bicycle bell...

Bruno, I will miss you...

The web and beyond

A lot of work has been put into it in the past weeks, and in a couple of hours it will start: the 1oth SIGCHI.NL conference. We expect around 600 visitors in the Tuschinski Theatre in Amsterdam. On the conference the developments on what some are calling 'Web 2.0' will be discussed: The web and beyond.

[ if you want to know more, please go to the conference website... ]

Broken bicycle

Grr, I was on my way to the office today when my bike broke down.

All of a sudden my Bruno didn't allow me to turn the pedals anymore. Only a few loud 'bangs' and an afwul grating noise, but no forward movement. I do not think my bicycle chain has run of the sprocket, but what is causing this malfuncion is beyond me.

[ I'm not a bicycle repairman... ]

These pedals are not doing what they suppose to do: pedal...

I parked Bruno in front of the bicycle repairwoman shop today (it was closed today because of Pentecost monday). Tomorrow morning I wil go in and ask if he can be fixed. I cycle with Bruno since 1987, so you could say I'm sort of attached to that bike...

[ we shared many beautiful miles together... ]

So many customers

What a lucky guy I must be! I'm just randomly surfing the net, and all of a sudden I turn out to be the one billionth customer of a website!

[ what a coincidence, last week I was also the 1 billionth customer..! ]

Woehoe, I'm sooo lucky...

Sick

I do not like to admit it, but last night I could no longer deny it: I'm sick.

I was sort of almost sick the whole week, but friday night I really got it. I was feeling cold, oh no, I was feeling hot, had the shiffers and was feeling very weak.

[ even weaker than the wet mop of last week thursday... ]

It's no fun being sick...

I went to bed early yesterday (right after diner) and today I've spend the whole day in bed, sleeping. I think the worst has past now and I'm getting better.

[ lets just hope I'm right this time... ]
